Environmental Consultant and Project Manager

Job Summary
Serves as an Environmental Consultant and a Project Manager in the firm’s Environmental, Health and Safety Group. The successful candidate should have the following experience:

  • developing, writing, and implementing environmental programs and procedures.
  • knowledge of Federal and state environmental regulations.
  • conducting field sampling, monitoring and auditing activities.
  • technical report and related document preparation.
  • training program development and implementation.
  • environmental, health and safety management systems design and implementation.
  • air and water-related permitting.
  • regulatory agency-recordkeeping and reporting.
  • hazardous materials management consulting.
  • project management.
  • The successful candidate will also serve as a Project Manager and must also be adaptable to varying work environments; possess a strong pro-active work ethic; adapt to new responsibilities; work well in a team environment; and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Prior consulting experience is required. Healthcare or biotechnology experience as well as radiation and biosafety experience is a plus. This is a growth oriented position.

Skills Required

  • U.S. Citizen or permanent work status.
  • BS or MS degree in science or engineering.
  • Experience in consulting required.
  • Certification as a Certified Hazardous Materials Manger (CHMM) or Certified Environmental Trainer (CET) highly desirable.

Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Specialist Consultants

Background
Mabbett & Associates, Inc. (M&A) a growing environmental, health and safety (EH&S) consulting and engineering firm is seeking part-time and/or full-time junior and mid-level (2-5 years experience) professionals to join our staff of environmental engineers, industrial hygienists, and safety professionals to support our life sciences, medical treatment facility, and general manufacturing clients. These positions afford excellent career growth potential and will provide challenging project experiences to the right candidates to help us meet the EH&S needs of our rapidly growing client base in biotechnology, medical device and general manufacturing, hospitals, and R&D, etc. Both private and public-Federal sector project opportunities exist.

Skills Required
Experience with and understanding of biotechnology processes, BL2 or higher laboratories, medical treatment facility and general manufacturing process operations.
  • Strong technical writing and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of requirements including OSHA, CDC, DPH, MWRA, and Massachusetts DEP.
  • Strong analytical problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Training program development and presentation experience.

Responsibilities
  • Providing EH&S services on-site for multiple clients.
  • Developing new and established client relationships.
  • EH&S auditing and corrective action assistance.
  • Developing and implementing EH&S programs and delivering training such as chemical hygiene, PPE, Hazard Communication, etc.
  • Conducting employee exposure assessments and incident investigations.
  • Evaluating client programs and policies.
  • Performing job safety assessments.
  • Providing environmental compliance related consulting and permitting assistance.
  • Reviewing and evaluating data and completing annual compliance reporting activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in biology, bioscience, chemistry, environmental health and safety, or engineering.
  • 2 - 5 years experience working as an EH&S professional or consultant in the biotechnology, medical treatment facility and/or general manufacturing sectors.
  • Direct experience in providing training.
  • Strong Microsoft Office® computer skills.
  • Massachusetts Industrial Wastewater Operator license desirable.
  • Individual must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.

Industrial Hygienist/EH&S Consultant/Project Manager

Job Summary
Serve as part of a team of environmental, health and safety professionals that conducts industrial hygiene monitoring, sampling and environmental, health and safety compliance related projects. Experience should include: developing, writing, and implementing health, safety, and environmental programs and procedures; knowledge of Federal and state safety, health and environmental regulations; conducting field sampling, monitoring and auditing activities; lead/asbestos inspections-monitoring; and project management. Be adaptable to varying work environments, possess a strong pro-active work ethic and adapt to new responsibilities. Work well in a team environment. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. The candidate will exercise considerable independent judgment in conducting environmental, health and safety or hazardous materials inspections and related field activities. This is a growth oriented position.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or a science related field.
  • 5+  years of experience in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) work place compliance and environmental evaluations. 
  • Industrial hygiene monitoring (air sampling, noise dosimetry, etc) experience.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Progressive and proven project management experience.
  • Certification as an asbestos inspector in Virginia and/or Maryland is also preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Previous consulting experience a plus.


Responsibilities
