Outline of Services

The WEEE and RoHS Directives represent the most far-reaching environmental policy requirements for the electrical and electronics equipment sector ever established in the world. Glasgow City Council (GCC) appreciates the threat non-conformance with WEEE & RoHS presents to the smaller sized electronics companies, and aim to help local companies prepare for with the forthcoming key dates associated both the WEEE & RoHS Directives. GCC have granted Mabbett & Associates Ltd (M&A) the authorisation to develop and deliver 50% (minimum) Grant funded WEEE & RoHS Training Services to eligible companies.

The services include:

• a preliminary WEEE & RoHS Needs Assessment Survey (Needs Assessment) of operations, products and existing compliance efforts your company, in order to assess the likely applicability of these Directives to your business.
• a preliminary assessment of the overall preparedness of your company relative to compliance with the WEEE & RoHS EU Directives.

Report

Upon completion of the field activities, M&A will analyse the information to assess the organisational, logistical and technical readiness of each company, and will present its finding in a Summary Needs Assessment Report, which will:

1. ascertain the likely applicability of the WEEE or RoHS Directives to the participating company, and if determined to be applicable,
2. identify current weaknesses and areas of concern as related to the various provisions of the Directives,
3. prioritise focus areas, and
4. outline an implementation and training plan to help each company prepare for forthcoming key dates and assist with their on-going compliance with the WEEE & RoHS Directives.

Eligibility

Eligible companies must:

• be operating from business premises in Glasgow;
• generate more than 50% of their turnover from out with Glasgow;
• generate over 50% turnover from manufacturing; and
• employ less than 250 people worldwide.
