Environmental Engineer

Mabbett & Associates Ltd is a growing environmental, health and safety, and energy conservation consulting and engineering firm currently seeking a self-motivated and seasoned environmental engineer to join the firm's Site Assessment and Remediation (SAR) Group. The successful candidate should have progressive experience in: site assessment (geo-environmental and geo-technical); feasibility studies; and remedial design and implementation. A background in geotechnical engineering is preferred. This is an ideal career position for an engineer seeking to develop themselves on a technical and commercial basis with a growing company.

Skills Required

The selected candidate will:

  • possess excellent writing and personal communication skills.
  • have a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (environmental, civil or geotechnical) and/or a Masters in Engineering/Science or a related field.
  • hold a Chartered Engineer (CEng) qualification, or be working towards required or appropriate equivalent e.g. SILC, CSci or CEnv.
  • possess progressive experience in site assessment consulting, reviews, studies, due diligence activities and the appraisal, design and validation of remediation-restoration of contaminated land.
  • have experience with project scoping, budgeting and the preparation of associated tenders.
  • have experience with European, U.K. national and local environmental regulations and standards of professional conduct to include British Standard Code of Practices.
  • have experience of negotiating with regulatory bodies, local authorities and private clients.
  • have experience in civil engineering and geotechnical engineering to include appropriate field testing and interpretative reporting of identified field conditions.
  • have experience with control system feasibility studies, preliminary and final engineering design activities, bidding and negotiating, and construction services to include commissioning, management, operations and maintenance of groundwater treatment systems.
  • have an understanding of environmental requirements associated with manufacturing facilities and associated process operations.
  • be able to demonstrate competency as a successful project manager and have the communication/leadership skills to lead project teams.
  • be proficient in Microsoft Office® packages: Word, Access, and Excel.
  • have AutoCAD® experience.

Responsibilities

The position requires the individual to become an integral part of the firm's SAR Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for proposal writing, project management, marketing and business development, and growth activities for the SAR services provided by the firm. The selected individual will also be technically involved in all aspects of the SAR work. Professional growth and development opportunity will also be available through various project assignments in support of industrial-manufacturing and public sector clients and expansion of the firm within the U.K., E.U. and U.S. markets.

Base Location

This position is based at the firm's new offices in Glasgow but may also include specific project work opportunities on a short-term basis throughout the U.K. Limited overseas travel may also be required.

Environmental Consultant

Background

Mabbett & Associates Ltd (M&A), an award winning and growing international environmental, health and safety consulting and engineering firm are recruiting a full-time Environmental Consultant to be based at our Dunfermline office. This is an entry level position within the firm.

Skills Required

The selected candidate will:

  • be educated to Bachelors (Hons) or Masters Degree in environmental science, environmental management or a related subject;
  • have knowledge and experience of ISO 14001 /BS 8555 training and implementation, IPPC permit application preparation activities, WEEE / RoHS and waste minimisation;
  • have the ability to present environmental information clearly to both shop floor workers and management;
  • have excellent oral and written communication skills and will pay close attention to detail and quality;
  • be a 'self-starter' and commercial awareness is an advantage;
  • be adaptable and flexible combined with technical excellence;
  • be proficient with Microsoft Professional software packages, and
  • have a current driving licence.

The following is desirable:

  • Affiliate or Associate Membership of IEMA.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will liaise with clients and assist to resolve their environmental issues. This will involve contact with SEPA and researching relevant information on legislation (such as IPPC, RoHS, WEEE Directives and Waste Management), plus implementation of best practice in Environmental Management - such as setting up systems to track Environmental Performance Indicators and advising clients where savings may be made, or assisting in running an EMS at a site. Design and delivery of Environmental Awareness presentations and training industrial clients in EMS Implementation, energy, waste and water savings forms part of this job role.

The selected candidate will work within a supportive and driven team, contributing to meeting Group targets for sales and project completion. Some travel is involved, for which a pool car is available.
