Industrial Hygiene Monitoring
Increased exposure to noise, hazardous substances and vibration can put employees' health at unnecessary risk. Employers have a duty to ensure that exposure limits for these hazards are below work exposure limits as stipulated in the relevant legislation.
Mabbett & Associates Ltd (M&A) provide third party, independent monitoring, analysis and recommendations to enable companies to assess current compliance and assess the effectiveness of associated control measures.
Personal Noise Surveys
Excessive industrial noise can damage the hearing of exposed personnel and can result in permanent hearing loss. M&A undertake noise assessments to establish personal noise exposure levels and determine current compliance. Through engineering solutions M&A can assist and advise on remedial solutions if the results are found to be above the acceptable action values.
Personal Sampling for Hazardous Substances
(e.g. Dust, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and Welding Fume)
In work environments where dusts, particulates, harmful substances or gases are used or generated it is important, to eliminate or minimise employee exposure. Where it is not possible to eliminate this risk completely, levels should be as low as practicable and below the Workplace Exposure Limit (WEL) for that substance. M&A offers a comprehensive personal monitoring service to determine current compliance. Where limits are found to be above the acceptable levels, M&A's experienced team can help provide solutions and advice to the problems experienced on site.
Hand / Arm and Whole Body Vibration Assessments
Wherever hand tools are used there is the possibility of health affects through vibration, such as white-finger. M&A use vibration monitoring equipment to monitor the tri-axial vibration directions for hand / arm vibration and compare them against the action values set by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). It must be remembered that for individuals using several tools in a day they all contribute towards an individual's exposure. For individuals working in forklift trucks, JCBs and other similar vehicles there is the potential of whole body vibration. M&A are able to monitor the corresponding tri-axial vibration directions and determine current compliance with the acceptable action values. M&A's experienced team can help provide solutions and advice to the problems experienced on site.
