OSHA and the European Union Develop Cooperative Program in Occupational Safety and Health

Since 1998, OSHA and the European Agency for Health and Safety at Work have been cooperating to assist employers and other stake-holders in both the US and Europe in accessing regulations and in taking advantage of guidance documents published on both sides of the Atlantic. One outcome of this venture is the establishment of a World Wide Web site (http://www.osha-slc.gov/us-eu) containing links to information on US and EU regulations, good practices, research, statistics, training, publications and other topics. Joint conferences will be held every two years to discuss common worker safety and health issues. The next conference will be held in November 2000 in San Francisco and will cover ergonomics, safety and health management, worker rights, and small and medium sized businesses. Steering committees include persons from NIOSH, Organization Resource Counselors, the National Safety Council, AFL/CIO and the US Mine Safety and Health Administration.
