National Waste Strategy for Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland is now set to join the rest of the UK in waste management strategy, with
regulations introduced recently including a register of waste carriers, and the onus being
placed on local authorities to draw up waste management plans. The introduction of the "duty
of care", the duty of all parties in the waste chain to display due care of the waste in their
possession is, however, to be implemented at a later stage.
