Mabbett Presenting at the Bedford Hazardous Materials Business Group
Kelly S. Winson, CHMM, TURP, Director of Mabbett’s Environmental, Health and Safety Group, will be presenting at the upcoming Bedford Hazardous Materials Business Group Meeting hosted by the Bedford Fire Department. The group includes local businesses who meet to share valuable information related to the management and use of hazardous materials. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 8:30-11:00am at Anika Therapeutics, Inc., located at 32 Wiggins Avenue in Bedford, MA.
Bedford is home to a thriving biotechnology and research community. Many companies in these industries use hazardous materials as part of their normal operations. Facilities that use and store hazardous materials have obligations to obtain permits, licenses, and registrations; develop programs; submit reports; and manage these materials in ways that are protective of the health and safety of their employees, the surrounding community, and the environment. Ms. Winson will provide an overview of some of the Federal, state, and local laws and regulations that apply to the use and storage of hazardous materials, as well as suggestions for improving compliance with these requirements.
Representatives from the Bedford Public Works, Police, Board of Health and Code Enforcement Departments will also be on hand to answer additional questions. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Captain Mark Sullivan at the Bedford Fire Department, in advance of the meeting.
