Building and Facility Assessments Including Asbestos Consulting

1. Prominent Massachusetts University Building/Facility Assessment

M&A conducted regulated building materials assessments of campus-wide residential facilities and provided follow-up abatement planning services associated with the Fire Safety Systems Upgrade Project for a leading Cambridge University. During this on-going assessment/abatement program, extending over a six year period, M&A is developing ACM, LBP, PCB, and other regulated building materials management alternatives. M&A is assisting the university with the bidding and abatement phases of this project, as well.

2. Oil SPCC Plan and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Auditing

M&A was retained to draft and Oil SPCC Plan for a multi-building manufacturing facility of an industrial client in Newton, MA. The plan included inventorying oil stored and used within the facility, identifying potential routes to the environment in the event of a spill within the facility, identifying required spill control equipment and procedures, development of best practices for the facility, and recommendations for modifications to prevent spills from occurring and/or reaching the environment. M&A reviewed the client's existing Stormwater Pollution Prevention practices as outlined in their Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan, including the existing Stormwater National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit, and actual implementation of the SWP3 at the facility.

Among M&A's recommendations were changes to site landscaping techniques, more frequent cleaning of paved areas and catch basins, and changes to outdoor material storage procedures and guidelines.
