Techno Bits/Technical Bulletins AIR ISSUES AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERING - ARCHIVED Risk Management Plan Audit Program The EPA has issued a guidance document at http://www.epa.gov/ceppo/factsheets/auditfactsheet.pdf describing how implementing agencies decide to select a facility for a Risk Management Program (RMP) audit. Implementing agencies (a delegated state agency or an EPA regional office) are required to periodically audit submitted RMPs to determine their adequacy and compliance with the regulations. Some factors that agencies may consider in deciding whether or not to audit a facility include: facility accident history; industry accident history; amount of regulated substance present at the facility; and closeness to public and environmental receptors.
