Integrated Contingency Plan "One Plan"

Several federal agencies including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), and the Department of Transportation (DOT) require that facilities perform contingency and emergency planning and in many cases prepare a written plan. The National Response Team has issued guidelines, that streamline the planning process and consolidate the many required plans into an Integrated Contingency Plan or "One Plan." "One Plans" prepared by facilities in accordance with the guidelines will satisfy requirements of five participating agencies and is the federal preferred method of planning. In addition, the "One Plan" approach minimizes duplication, paperwork, and confusion. "One Plan" information and the specific guidelines are available at: http://www.epa.gov/swercepp/. In addition emergency response software known as the BOLDER Planning Tool is available to assist in the preparation of a "One Plan." To obtain a free copy of the BOLDER CD-ROM software contact Len Wallace at EPA Region 1 at (617) 918-1835 or e-mail: wallace.len@epamail.epa.gov.
