Techno Bits/Technical Bulletins SITE ASSESSMENT AND REMEDIATION - ARCHIVED Federal Tax Deduction for Brownfields Cleanups Cleanup costs for CERCLA hazardous substance releases at brownfields redevelopment sites are now fully deductible in the year incurred under federal tax law. Qualifying sites must be located within EPA Brownfields Pilot Grant areas, Federal Enterprise Communities and Empowerment Zones, and certain economically disadvantaged commercial/industrial districts. The federal tax deduction requires Massachusetts DEP to file an eligibility certification on the landowner's behalf. Other conditions and time restrictions apply. Contact us for more details.
