WATER AND WASTEWATER - ARCHIVED
New Industrial Wastewater Holding Tank Standard Proposed
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MADEP) is proposing to add a
section, 314 CMR 10.00, to its current regulations that will contain minimum standards
for industrial wastewater holding tank and container design, construction, management,
and certification, under the Environmental Results Program. These are the same standards
that have been used by the MADEP when evaluating plan approval applications during the
holding tank plan approval process, but previously have not been codified in the
regulations. Codifying these standards will make it easier for industry to understand
what is required. This change will make the requirements more explicit to the regulated
community, however, it does not change the approval standards significantly.
