Mabbett Performs Thermal Imaging-Based Temperature Survey

Mabbett & Associates, Inc. (Mabbett®) Project Geologist Nicholas Podmaska performed a surface water quality parameter collection as part of a thermal imaging-based Temperature Survey.

This undertaking identified potential groundwater discharge locations at surface waterbodies downgradient of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) site. While the data collection efforts for the thermal imaging survey were ultimately performed during the summer, the thermal imaging and associated surface water quality parameter data collection identified numerous anomalous zones which are utilized as pore-water sampling locations during ongoing environmental monitoring of the Superfund Site.

These types of evaluations need to be done in extreme temperatures to ensure there is a significant difference in temperature between the surface water (seasonally variable) and the groundwater (consistent).
